SsangYong has released a new base model in the Sports DualCab range. Named the Sports DualCab Tradie, the new variant knocks thousands off the price of the mainstream sellers in the range.
Priced at $24,990, the Tradie 4x2 is fitted as standard with 2.0-litre common-rail turbodiesel engine, five-speed manual transmission, air conditioning, electric windows, remote central locking and dual front airbags.
The engine, which is shared with other Sport DualCab models, develops 104kW of power at 4000rpm and 310Nm of torque at 1800rpm. Despite the ability to cart a 750kg payload, the vehicle also posts a fuel consumption figure of 8.1L/100km in combined-cycle testing.
A 4x4 variant is also available, priced at $27,990. Both models are sold in just the one colour, solid white. SsangYong has also aimed to keep the price low by specifying steel wheels and rear drum brakes for the Tradie models.
"Clearly there is a demand for a vehicle like this that has less of the creature comforts and a lower price for those seeking a more basic and less luxurious vehicle," says Russell Burling, MD for SsangYong Motors Australasia.
