» Get the best price on a new Kia Kia has parked two "eco_cee'd" concepts on the stand at the Geneva Motor Show, but if you thought that was simply a matter of the Korean company's far-flung future directions, you'd be wrong.
The eco_cee'd will not go into production as such, but much of the fuel-sipping qualities of its onboard tech will trickle down into mainstream cee'd production commencing from December of this year.
Kia displayed the eco_cee'd at the Frankfurt Motor Show last year (more here) and the fuel consumption figure -- 3.9L/100km -- represents a significant gain over the standard car.
With the eco version of the pro_cee'd producing 17 per cent fewer CO2 emissions (104g/km) and the eco-focused cee'd five-door model almost matching that with 106g/km, the technology has a real-world future ahead of it.
"Our new 'eco' features also confirm Kia's commitment to creating environmentally friendly production models - without losing sight of customer expectations for fun-to-drive cars," said Mr. Paul Willis, COO Kia Motors Europe.
